WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR???

Now that you have decided to make the investment, here comes the dreaded "what to wear?" question. And understandably so! You don't wan't to pick just any ole thing out of your closet, even if it is your favorite.

Not everything will look good on camera.

Don't worry, I can definitely help with that! I've even created an Amazon list to help.

Here is a guild on how and what to choose. No matter what though, everyone has different styles, so I want your style and family to shine!

  1. Choose the Location- this is important! Where you take your photo's will play a big role in what style and colors you choose.
  2. Think Muted Colors- I cannot stress this one enough! Bright colors never translate well on the camera, and neon colors reflect crazy colors everywhere. If you love reds - go with scarlets, yellows - go with mustard, greens - go with sage or dark green. And if you want to wear whites, go with creams instead.
  3. Start with the Ladies- Ladies first is definitely key. Let's be real, fining piece's for us woman is always hard, and when you are trying to match someone else, it makes it even harder. SO!!! Pick out a dress or top for MOM, and then build from there.
  4. Choose a Color Pallet- Once mom's outfit is picked out, then pick out 2-3 coordinating colors to go with it (and don't be afraid to ask for help, that's what I'm here for)
  5. Coordinate Don't Match- Now don't get me wrong, being "matchy matchy" with your kiddo's or having your kiddo's match is sometimes really cute (I'm guilty of doing it myself)! BUT, if you ask, I will tell you that coordinating, not matching, looks so much better in the long run, and will create beautiful depth in your images. The best way to do this is by avoiding wearing the same color top as your spouse or putting your girls in the same matching dresses.
  6. Add Variety- create dimension by having solids with coordinating subtle patterns and textures. Think floral dress on mom, solid button up on Dad, plaid on brother, and ruffles or lace on sister. I even have an old lace shawl that you can wrap around yourself and your kids. Try to avoid big bold prints that will distract from your photos. Be sure not to forget your accessories.
  7. Avoid Tight Patterns- Tight stripes, plaids and checkers will create zigzags in the images.
  8. Include your Kids- If your kids hate it, they won't want to wear it, and we want happy kiddo's.
  9. Dress for the Weather- If you are having pictures in the colder months, be sure to bring a sweater or jacket that will work with the outfits. Especially for the kiddo's! Because, again, we want happy kiddo's, not cold and angry kiddo's.
  10. Don't Forget the Shoes- This happens so often, you have the perfect outfit and none of your shoes match... this happens most with husbands and kids (unless they are like my hubby who has more shoes than I do! lol). So, be sure they have shoe's that will work with your vision.
